Following the 2011 format, this season of Champions League too commenced with a triumph. From 32 best teams of Europe in the group stages and eight different groups, the competition has reached to its culmination. Now only the final two are left and both these clubs along with the millions of football fans from across the globe are anxiously waiting for the grand finale to be hosted at the Wembley Stadium London.
The competition is an exhibit of might by all the prestigious European clubs. Arch rivals, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have made it to the finale this time. Not only the German stalwarts have defeated Barca in their home ground but have also secured a final berth with a 7-0 score.
Dortmund's Champions League 2013 journey has been filled with equal triumphs. After their spectacular performances all thorough the group stages, it was Real Madrid they were paired against in the semi-final. They arrived in Madrid with a 4-1 lead and with late goals coming from Jose Mourinho's squad seemed to make their chances bleak. But Jürgen Klopp had bolstered hard his team's defence and that finally paid in their favour. Dortmund entered the finale for the first time after 1997 with a 4-3 lead.
Last time when Borussia Dortmund secured a final berth, they had Juventus with Zinedine Zidane waiting for them in the finale. But they played as a team without giving the legend any scope for scores. At Munich they lifted the crown for the first time in Champions League history. Munchen made it to the finale even in 2012, but unfortunately they have witnessed a defeat in the final not once but twice in the last three years.
